20, 30, 40

I hardly read Chinese newspapers except the Free 我报 that has loads of latest gossips about celebrities. :P
Just found out when i was reading the 晚报 the other day, that women in their 30s ="中年妇女", those in their 20s = "少妇"...
i always have this image that 中年妇女 is a Loud middle aged aunty, with over-colored permed hair!! It's not what we associate with women in their 30s... Renee Liu's (刘若英) character in the 2004 chick flick "20, 30, 40" would be a typical 30ish woman in today's age. I remember watching the movie then, and thinking so enviously of her being so Cool and her attitude towards Life.
I personally know several women in their 40s, 50s who look chic, and polished too... and i definitely won't use the term 老妇 to describe them..
Sheesh, how come the journalists in those chinese tabloids are so limited in their chinese vocab??
