Korean Craze

I like: Spicy Kimchi Ramen, yummy korean BBQ : )
... but not those side dishes please.
I must've been going to the wrong korean restaurants. How come don't have those yummy dishes you see in 大长今?

I like: Bimbotic Korean movies, Beautiful cinematography arty movies, Romantic drama serials with HAPPY Endings : )
... but not those scary Horror movies that give you nightmares, or those ultra s-l-o-o-o-w and draggy drama serials with sad endings.

My 1st impression?
  • Used to have a korean classmate in primary school. On Children's Day, she and her siblings would come to school dressed in their colorful korean costumes. Nice. : )
  • Conservative Confucian society, and very conscious of hierarchy and status.
  • Sandwiched between China and Japan. That's why it's a mix of both?
  • Successful and Influential Chaebols: Samsung, Hyundai, LG, Daewoo, etc
  • 1996: shared a day tour with a bunch of Koreans from Rome to Naples. They were RUDE. :(
  • 1996: met 2 'humsup' looking Korean guys @ the reception of hotel in Milan. They were so happy to see asians and immediately my fren and i are their "Frens".. or so, they told the guy @ the Reception. But the feeling was NOT mutual! Fren and i were so paranoid that we double-locked our door, and even placed a chair under the doorknob for triple protection. :(
  • Every girl on tv looks similar, same kind of pretty face... Same cosmetic surgeon?
  • The language sounds kinda harsh, even when the couple are 'manja-ing' with each other.
  • Seem like a scenic beautiful country... with many locations from popular drama serials now becoming hot tourist spots.
  • All time favorite drama serial: All About Eve (starring Jang Dong Gun) ;-)
  • All time favorite movie: Il Mare (starring Lee Jung-Jae, Jun Ji-Hyun) with the Hollywood's version coming up soon starring Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock :)
Hmmm... that's all I can comment on Korean stuff... :P
Will I visit the country? Maybe, but not on my priority 'must-go' list.
