Exotic Egyptian Escapade

.. and some not so exotic observations.. :P

A messy, dirty, dusty Cairo

There are 'unfinished' buildings everywhere in Cairo, but they're actually occupied.
Petrol only costs EGP2 per litre! Cheaper than a bottle of Perrier!! That's why so many cars on the road!!!
Crossing the roads in Rome/China is child's play compared to crossing one in Cairo
Sandstorm in the Sahara Desert... i was literally (almost) blown away by the strong winds.. and even oversized sunshades couldn't keep the sand particles out of my eyes :(
Tips are EXPECTED for all sorts of services and even the toilets at the places of attractions

Their FASTfood outlets (McD's, Hardees, KFC) are NOT fast at all! :/ But their local fastfood version - Felfela, has fast service and Yummy food :)
The Egyptians don't speak Egyptian anymore.. they speak Arabic and English!
The Egyptians don't go around dressing like what Cleopatra (Elizabeth Taylor) wore.. they wear the local costume and we wouldn't be able to differentiate them from their middle eastern neighbors.. and as you move southwards, you can't differentiate the Nubian tribe from their african neighbors :P

The Egyptians have nice ultra long eyelashes just like the camels.. to keep out the sand/dust from irritating the eyes :)
Sent my WHITE blouse for laundry onboard the river nile cruise, and it came back in a different color - GREY :(

Overall, we enjoyed our 9 days of Egyptian Voyage.. may hafta go back again 10yrs down the road as they are still finding new stuff buried under the sands.. :)

hehe.. will update the wonders of Egypt once i have the full set of fantastic photos from frens' cameras.. ;-)

Sheesh! Now I am re-considering my egyptian trip. I heard that the food is another problem? Same food offered at every meal every day?

Eh... i was juz noting down my bimbo, ignorant misconception about Egypt.. which was mainly fed by Disney cartoons and hollywood movies like The Mummy trilogy. :P
I enjoyed my 9 days Egyptian Voyage... just don't like the Cairo City.

We joined Trafalgar Tours. Tourmates from USA, S.Africa, AU, NZ, SG. Very interesting bunch of pple. :) Not those Chan Brothers' 我的导游是明星 type. :P

Food onboard the river cruise is yummy. There are variations everyday. When lunch is not included in the package, the cafe/restaurant recommended by the Tour Director is cheap & good. :)

I'll blog about the NICE stuff after i get the rest of the pixs from my fren. :))
