Koru

The Maori Koru design is inspired by the New Zealand fern frond unfurling as it grows. It represents peace, tranquility, personal growth, positive change and awakening.
The koru reaches towards the light, striving for perfection, encouraging new positive beginnings... The koru, represents the unfolding of new life, that everything is reborn and continues. It represents renewal and hope for the future.
Spiral, Geometry of Life, Sacred Creation...

Each of us were given this koru pendant as a gift, after receiving a traditional maori welcome from the native maori tribe in Auckland.

Up close, you see that design again in the Black Tree Fern, starting from the fiddlehead. As the fernleaf develops, you see the same unfurling process on the 'leaves' too. It's amazing!

Even the Seashells found on the volcanic black sand Piha Beach are also shaped in the same koru design!

... maybe this is a normal/common patterns you see in nature... but i didn't notice it until my 'intimate' interaction with New Zealand for the past 3.5 yrs... thot that's very unique to NZ only. :P
