Pottery... this is one hobby that requires losta hard work, patience, and creativity. It's also kinda therapeutic as well, especially when you are concentrating so much on your artwork, you didn't realize that hours have past.
I'm not exactly the artistic, creative sort... i lean more towards the the practical and pragmatic category. That explains my preference in designs that are clean, simple and more classical in style. Unlike Y2 and H2 who get so excited creating mini sculptures and explaining to me on their abstract art. The green bowl is complimentary from Y2 & H2 as they ran out of cabinet space to display their mini sculptures and vases! This is typically what happens when u get hooked on pottery... i've got frens who place their creations at the gallery shops for sale! See, you get to earn monies from your hobby too! : )
It's really an amazing feeling transforming a lump of clay into smthg that's asthetic and practical, and beautiful. The entire process requires the potter's hardwork, kneading the clay into shape, the careful monitoring on the firing/glazing process, before the work is finished. No two pieces are identical. I've also learnt that sometimes, 'imperfection' makes each piece of art, which you have lovingly created, unique.
As i only finished the introductory course of 6 lessons, my range of creations is restricted to just containers. "Containers" coz it's too big for ashtrays, too thick for soup bowls... it's more suitable as dishbowls for the doggie or potpurri bowl. Otherwise, it can be classified as the beggar's bowl (those kind you see in those Chinese period dramas) :P
The white color bowl with blue flower motifs is one of my masterpieces. Not bad, eh? ;-)
