周庄
Picturesque Water village... Chinese version of "The Venice of the East". More down-to-earth given the humble history, but also very geared towards the tourist monies.
It was drizzling the whole day and the chilly weather evoked this special misty mood to the place. Very nice effects on the photos we took. : )
I'm very proud of the quality photos taken with my canon ixus digicam. *gloat* :P
Our local guide has lotsa tales to tell of this quaint lil' town. We learnt quite a bit on the lifestyle of the folks living here in the ancient days. And also the famous saga of the Emperor Zhu Yuan Zhang and this rich businessman Shen Wan San.
There were a couple of special bridges. There's one where the couples hafta cross together hand-in-hand for blessed marital bliss. There's the Fu An Qiao where you hafta walk thru the bridge 3 times, & you'll rise 3 consecutive ranks like Zhu Rongji. Yay! ;-)
